We arrived in Kununurra and within 30 minutes of Kirra & Shan picking us up from the airport we were out on their boat exploring the beautiful lake, beer in hand and doggo snugs with otto all round. I can’t explain the green plants, yukkas, trees and bushes surrounding the lake. It is truly phenomenal.

We stopped off and looked at some of the gorgeous aboriginal artwork before swimming in the lake as the sun set around us and glowed absolutely beautifully on elephant rock 😭

The water was the perfect temperature. After (struggling horrifically 😂) to get back into the boat we headed back to Kirra & Shan’s house where we sat around the table, ate home caught fish taco-style and played card games (kirra and I won of course 😉)

Elopement day.

Holy shmoley. We arrrived too Kimberlyland where Kirra and Shan held their elopement ceremony (formalised by the amazing KM) after quite a few tears, some gorgeous vows, an extremely excitable otto and a first dance later these two hunnies were finally married. We were so lucky to be their witnesses!

As we were packing up ready to go, our helicopter was flying in to collect us. I was shitting myself hahah! We jumped in the heli and suddenly we were a shit tonne of ft in the air surrounded by the most surreal, incredible and jaw dropping views. Our pilot Sam took us right into the cockburn ranges where we parked up and took photos surrounded by the most incredible scenery. After around 20 minutes of shooting we jumped back in the heli and landed at the top of King Falls, being the dry season the water had dried up so we were able to capture these two on the amazing cliff edge with the gorges surrounding them as the sun set. We jumped back in the helicopter and headed back to kununurra with the smokey haze sunset the whole way home. What a fucking day.

Our last day in Kununurra, we woke at 4:00am and hiked to the top of elephant rock to watch the sunrise with Kirra & Shan. Within 2 metres of starting our hike we came across a baby olive python (eeeeep!). It is so surreal listening to all of the birds waking up while the sun rose over the stunning lake.

Once the sun was up we headed back down and chilled at their house with their gorgeous boy otto. Then we headed to middle springs (for another hike) this time we hiked to the top waterfall where we had the entire natural pool too ourselves (and possibly a monitor lizard 😅)

Then we headed over too the hoochery for some delicious gin, the pub for a quick matsos ginger beer and finished our trip at the ord river bakehouse with the most delicious chips and gravy. Ahhhhh. Yum.

There are simply not enough words in any language to describe time we had with Kirra and Shan. We have made so many unforgettable and incredible memories that we will cherish forever!
